Ribbons
for the Children
December
6, 2008
In
2006, Ribbons
began as a
collaborative
effort between
ArtsUnited and
Children’s
Diagnostic &
Treatment
Center founded
on the simple
idea of giving
local artists
the opportunity
to give back to
the community.
This
year, twenty-five
incredible
artists displayed
their work at
the Fort
Lauderdale
Museum of Art
with the theme
of the red
ribbon and
remembering the
children of the
AIDS pandemic.
Through the work
of these
remarkable
artists, the
imagination of
Jean Starkey and
Chuck Williams,
the sponsorship
of ArtsUnited,
Pubset, Cordis,
and
Children’s
Diagnostic &
Treatment
Center
, and the
wonderful
support of event
guests, the
children and
adolescents so
impacted by this
dreadful disease
will not go
unnoticed.
Although most of
these children
are orphans and
many are
homeless, even
in this country
of such wealth,
all of us become
part of their
family in paying
tribute to their
resilience and
courage.
To
the many
outstanding
volunteers and
contributors who
make this event
a reality each
year, your
participation
and support is a
testimony to
your awareness
of these
children, your
caring for their
lives, and your
hope for their
future. On their
behalf and on
behalf of the
Board of
Directors and
the staff of the
Children’s
Diagnostic &
Treatment
Center, thank
you for your
support of this
very special
event.
